The Warriors from across the ditch are spreading the word that Mitchell Barnett, the NSW rookie, was on the brink of hanging up his boots last year due to a nagging neck injury.

The tough forward went under the knife in 2020 to fix a dodgy disc, but the problem reared its head again early last season, leaving Barnett contemplating saying adios to the game.

With a growing brood at home, Barnett knew he had to think about more than just his own dreams when deciding his future in footy.

After some soul-searching, the hardman decided to give his league career one more shot, and he hasn't regretted it since.

Good on ya, Barnett!
