Melbourne Storm won't be going after injured Panthers star Nathan Cleary in the NRL grand final showdown, learning from past mistakes in targeting wounded players.

Captain Harry Grant made it clear that the team has no intention of focusing on Cleary's injured shoulder, recalling the painful memory of their loss in the 2018 grand final when they put too much emphasis on an injured Cooper Cronk.

Grant emphasized that there will be no specific target on Cleary, despite rumors that his shoulder could give out at any moment.

Storm's own No.7, Jahrome Hughes, echoed Grant's sentiments, highlighting Cleary's resilience and class as a player.

"We won't be singling out Cleary or treating him differently just because of his injury," Grant stated.

"He has shown time and time again that he can perform at the highest level, even when under pressure or dealing with an injury.

We respect his talent and will approach the game as we normally would."

In the high-pressure environment of the grand final, Melbourne Storm is determined not to make the same mistake twice and will focus on their own game rather than targeting a specific player.

It's all about staying disciplined, sticking to the game plan, and executing on the day.
