Talks between Cameron Munster and the PNG Chiefs were paused during the season so the Storm could focus on its campaign.

Munster has since ruled out more than half the competition as he considers his options for 2028.

He rejected a Storm extension in September and subsequent offers, including a reported $750,000 deal.

That is $350,000 below his expected $1.1 million salary next season, and he has called the offer a 'lowball'.

Munster responded, "Not at all."

He continued, "I think when you look at the game, I didn't play a great year and they're probably banking that because of my performance,"

He added, "They're a business; they're going to make sure they're contenders, and if I don't deliver like we did this year, then they're not going to pay me the money."

Asked whether Sydney could be an option in 2028, he joked, "If I lived in Sydney, you'd be at my doorstep every week,"

He has also hinted at a return to Queensland, where he runs a pub on Caxton Street.
