Terrell May's hopes for a State of Origin debut have taken a hit following a disheartening performance in the Wests Tigers' 64-0 loss to the Melbourne Storm.

Despite a strong start to the season, where he was seen as a contender for selection, May struggled against a dominant Storm squad.

He tallied 12 runs for 106 meters and made 52 tackles in 73 minutes but missed three tackles, including a significant one on Cameron Munster that resulted in a try.

This missed tackle occurred in the 74th minute when Munster easily brushed past May before assisting Bronson Garlick.

Although the game was already out of reach, this moment raised concerns about May's readiness for the high stakes of State of Origin.

The incident against Munster, a key figure for Queensland, highlighted the level of competition he would face if selected.

Reactions from NRL fans and pundits reflect doubt about May's position on the NSW team.

Roosters great Bryan Fletcher had recently called him a "must-pick," but analysts Mark Geyer and Greg Alexander did not include him in their selections.

Notably, Alexander suggested that Jacob Saifiti may have the edge over May in the selection race.

This performance could significantly influence Laurie Daley's decision as he considers line-ups for the upcoming Origin series.
