In Round 19 of the Knock On Effect NSW Cup, the Western Suburbs Magpies faced the New Zealand Warriors at Go Media Stadium, suffering a 22-14 defeat despite a remarkable second-half performance from centre Taylan May.

The Warriors dominated the first half, scoring four tries through Sio Kali, Ali Leiataua, and two from Edward Kosi, establishing a commanding 22-0 lead by the 37th minute.

Early in the second half, the Magpies appeared to score their first points when Izaac Tu'itupou reached the corner, but the effort was disallowed by the touch judge.

However, momentum shifted when Warriors forward Bunty Afoa was sent to the sin bin, giving Wests a crucial numerical advantage.

Taylan May capitalised on this opportunity, powering over on the left edge to score the Magpies' first try.

Just four minutes later, May scored again, finishing a slick left-side movement with strength in the corner, narrowing the gap to 22-10.

As the Magpies continued to push for more, May completed his hat-trick with another classy finish in the 78th minute.

Unfortunately for Wests, time was against them, and missed conversions from difficult positions meant their comeback fell short.

Overall, the match showcased the Warriors' early dominance and the Magpies' resilience, particularly highlighted by May's performance, yet it culminated in a disappointing loss for Western Suburbs.
