Match Preview: Round 23 vs Raiders

The Manly Warringah Sea Eagles are set to face the Canberra Raiders at GIO Stadium on Friday night, eager to maintain their hopes of a finals appearance.

With a raucous crowd and bitterly cold conditions, they'll be up against a team currently leading the ladder. "Good thing we like it tough."

The phrase 'must win' is often overused, yet it rings true for Manly as they approach their final five regular-season games.

Following last weekend's defeat at home to the Roosters and a prior loss to the Bulldogs, the Sea Eagles' path to the finals has become more challenging.

The Raiders, on the other hand, have been consistent winners this season. Despite a surprising loss in Wollongong last weekend, they remain in contention for their first minor premiership in 35 years.

Historically, the Sea Eagles have performed well against the Raiders, securing victories in eight of their last 11 encounters, which includes a decisive 40-12 win at 4 Pines in Round 3.

Manly's record in Canberra is also strong, with nine wins in the past 12 meetings at GIO Stadium.

In terms of team changes, Turbo steps in for Lehi Hopoate (shoulder) at fullback, Tommy Talau moves to the centres, and Michael Chee Kam takes Ben Trbojevic's spot (HIA protocol) in the second row.
