The Maroons have come out on top in a historic victory over the Sky Blues, claiming the Women's Origin three-game series with a dominant 22-6 win.

It was a sweet redemption for Queensland, who had to dig deep in Game Two to stay in the running before sealing the deal in front of a roaring crowd at Queensland Country Bank Stadium.

Building on their points differential victory from last year, the Maroons were in devastating form on the field.

Tarryn Aiken, who had been a hero in Game Two, showcased her skills once again with a brilliant performance despite a minor hiccup that allowed NSW to score.

Aiken's no-look pass set up the opening try and her clever kick led to Julia Robinson's four-pointer just before halftime, all while racking up an impressive 88 run metres.

Shannon Mato, the hard-working front-rower, bulldozed through the defense with 151 run metres, leading her team in yardage for the third consecutive game.

Her outstanding efforts earned her the prestigious Nellie Doherty Medal as the player of the series.

With this historic series victory, the Maroons have firmly cemented their status as state champions, leaving the Sky Blues in their wake.

Fans can expect more thrilling matches and fierce competition in the future as these two rival teams continue to battle it out on the rugby league field.
