The Queensland Maroons are determined to create history by winning the Origin Shield, aiming to become the first team to secure back-to-back away victories after losing the series opener.

Under new captain Cameron Munster, the Maroons bounced back from an 18-6 defeat in Origin I at Suncorp Stadium, triumphing 26-24 in Perth.

This win keeps their hopes alive for the series, but they face a challenging task ahead.

To clinch the Origin Shield, Queensland must defeat the Blues in another away game at Accor Stadium on July 9.

This is a scenario similar to last year, when New South Wales lost the series opener in Sydney but went on to win in Melbourne and Brisbane, grabbing the Origin Shield for the first time since 2022.

Historically, Queensland has achieved back-to-back Origins on the road only twice, in 1995 and 2009.

Notably, they have never accomplished this when the series was on the line in a decider.

However, forward Pat Carrigan expressed the team's confidence, stating they are ready to tackle the odds and aim for another upset following their recent win in Perth, which broke their longest losing streak since 2005-2006.
