Joey Manu has officially signed a contract with Racing 92, locking him in until the end of the 2027 French Rugby season, thereby confirming that fans of the Roosters will not see the former star return to the NRL anytime soon.

The New Zealand representative recently made a significant move to Japan, joining the Toyota Verblitz for the 2025 season, marking a major setback for the Roosters.

Reports indicate that despite earlier speculations about Manu having second thoughts regarding his transition to French rugby, he has ultimately committed to Racing 92.

The 29-year-old showed signs of interest in returning to the Roosters when he trained at their facilities last month, but now that Racing 92 has confirmed his signing, fans' hopes for an NRL return will have to wait.

Manu had a strong debut season in Japan, scoring 11 tries; however, his team faced challenges, finishing 10th in the standings.

Racing 92 is looking to enhance their squad as they had a disappointing season, also signing notable player Taniela Tupou from the Wallabies.

The Paris club has made a total of 10 new signings in preparation for the upcoming season, aiming to improve on last season's performance.

Despite some uncertainty about his career path, particularly after his recent appearance at a Roosters game, the signing with Racing 92 appears to be a definitive move for Manu.

Fans and analysts will carefully observe how he adapts to rugby in France, following his promising run in Japan.
