At this year's World Cup, Brandon Wakeham has returned to halfback for Fiji alongside Manly teammate Caleb Navale.

That contrasts with his 2026 role at Manly, where he made 17 appearances, usually starting at hooker before moving to ball-playing lock.

The 27-year-old debuted in the NRL as a half in 2019 and joined the Sea Eagles on a train-and-trial offer at the end of 2024.

Manly have now extended his stay through the end of 2028, after he emerged as an important player.

Fans have praised his line speed, defence and distribution to outside halves, which contributed to attacking flair during the 'Fozball' era.

"I'm really happy to be with the Sea Eagles for at least the next couple of years," Wakeham said in a Sea Eagles statement.

He said he was enjoying his football and hoped to keep improving and achieve special moments with Manly.

Coach Kieran Foran praised Wakeham's character and persistence, saying he believed the halfback's best years were ahead.

"Brandon is the type of player every coach wants in their squad," Foran said.
