Michael Maguire, the NSW coach, has fired back at Queensland ahead of Game 2, criticizing them for suggesting his team intentionally went after Reece Walsh.

In a classic case of 'glass houses,' Maguire called out the Maroons for questioning his tactics, setting the stage for a heated clash in Melbourne.

During the Origin opener, Walsh was forced out of the game early on after a high hit from Blues rookie Joseph-Aukuso Suaalii, who charged at him aggressively after he had already passed the ball.

Suaalii was promptly sent off, and Walsh was ruled out of the match following another rough tackle in the air by Liam Martin.

While Queensland coach Billy Slater remained tight-lipped about the incident, former Maroons star Johnathan Thurston didn't hold back in his criticism the next day.

He accused the Blues of targeting Walsh, stating that the officials had no choice but to take action.

Nate Myles also expressed his disapproval of Suaalii's actions as he left the field.

As tensions rise and emotions run high, it's clear that Game 2 will be a fierce battle on the rugby league field.

Maguire's remarks have set the tone for what promises to be a thrilling showdown between the two rival states.
