Maguire leaves Blues to join Broncos coaching staff

In a bold move reminiscent of a player throwing a Hail Mary pass, New South Wales Rugby League (NSWRL) has officially released Michael Maguire as head coach of the NSW Blues.

This strategic play allows Maguire to quickly pivot and join the Brisbane Broncos in a swift transfer that has the rugby league world buzzing.

With the speed of a winger sprinting down the sideline, Maguire was immediately freed from his Blues contract to take the reins at the Brisbane Broncos.

He has signed on for a three-year coaching gig, set to lead the Broncos until the end of the 2027 NRL season.

Having previously called the shots for the Wests Tigers and achieved success with the South Sydney Rabbitohs, Wigan Warriors, and New Zealand Kiwis, Maguire brings a wealth of experience to his new role.

His winning record includes snagging the 2024 State of Origin Shield, breaking a 43-year drought for an NRL Premiership in 2014, and clinching a Super League title and Challenge Cup victory across the pond in the United Kingdom.

"The Broncos are a powerhouse in the rugby league realm, and I am pumped to take the reins as Head Coach," Maguire commented, clearly ready to tackle this exciting new challenge head-on.
