Facing pressure, Broncos coach Michael Maguire maintains he has backing from key players in Brisbane after star fullback Reece Walsh expressed concerns about Adam Reynolds not receiving a farewell at Suncorp Stadium.
On Wednesday, Maguire stated he had addressed the situation with Walsh and veteran playmaker Ben Hunt after their responses to the Reynolds issue, which has increased scrutiny on the team's performance.
Hunt remarked on Tuesday that the players believed "Reynolds deserved that send-off" in the upcoming match against Melbourne. Reynolds had shared with various news outlets, including this publication, that the decision to bench him came from Maguire and the club's medical team, especially for a match without implications for the finals.
"I got through training, I felt pretty good, but after talking with 'Madge' and the medical staff, they weren't keen to see me go out there and finish with another potential injury, then go out like that," Reynolds said on Monday.
