Jarome Luai's journey in Papua New Guinea has taken an exciting new direction, as the four-time premiership champion has signed a substantial five-year contract to represent Pepsi in the country.
As the brand ambassador for Pepsi in Papua New Guinea, Luai is expected to develop a strong association with the renowned beverage brand while preparing to join the PNG Chiefs.
This five-year deal will extend through 2031, even though Luai currently has a two-year playing contract with the Chiefs, which includes a player option for 2030.
It's still uncertain if the agreement with Pepsi includes any early exit clauses if Luai's stay in Papua New Guinea ends before the two-year mark of his playing contract.
Luai is anticipated to begin his commitments with Pepsi next season, indicating that he will need to balance his responsibilities in Port Moresby with his playing schedule.
This situation was previously understood to have influenced the Wests Tigers' decision to release Luai early, despite him being contracted until the end of the 2026 season.
Instead, he will spend 2027 with Parramatta on a one-year contract, reuniting with his NSW Blues teammate Mitchell Moses before heading to the PNG Chiefs.
Luai's Pepsi agreement signifies a major commitment to Papua New Guinea, where he has emerged as a central figure in preparations for the country's entry into the NRL.
"I'm incredibly proud to join the Pepsi and Pacific Industries family," Luai shared with Code Sports.
