Lebanon's Saab gets World Cup shot

Saab in line for Lebanon World Cup debut

Lebanon begin their 2026 Rugby League World Cup campaign against PNG on Saturday 17 October at Santos National Football Stadium in Port Moresby.

The tournament will be Jason Saab's first World Cup and official debut for Lebanon; an ACL injury late in 2022 had previously ruled him out of representing the Cedars.

The 25-year-old winger scored 15 tries in 23 appearances for Manly this season, including a hat-trick in the Sea Eagles' 46-18 win over Wests Tigers during Magic Round.

Lebanon's announced 23-man squad includes Mohamed Alameddine (Parramatta Eels), Yehya Ayache (South Sydney Rabbitohs), Jalal Bazzaz (Shellharbour Stingrays) and Alex Conti (Canterbury Bulldogs).

Also selected are Ibrahim El Labban (Wentworthville Magpies), Tony Francis (Gold Coast Titans), Tupou Francis (Brisbane Broncos), Michael Gabrael (Cronulla Sharks), Mikael Ibrahim (Gold Coast Titans) and Moustafa Dirani (St Marys Saints).

The squad also features Jacob Kiraz (Canterbury Bulldogs), Abbas Miski (Wigan Warriors), Brad Morkos (St George Illawarra Dragons), Joseph Nohra (Parramatta Eels), Khaled Rajab (Newtown Jets) and Jaxson Rahme (Sydney Roosters).

Its other listed players are Khalil Rahme (Newtown Jets), James Roumanos (Toulouse Olympique), Saab (Manly Sea Eagles), Jordan Samrani (Parramatta Eels) and Tony Sukkar (Wests Tigers).
