Lebanon ended its World Cup campaign with a chaotic 24-20 golden-point victory over France on Sunday, giving Michael Cheika a memorable send-off from league.
The Cedars missed the knockout stage, unlike their quarter-final run at the 2022 World Cup.
Cheika, who is returning to Super Rugby as Waratahs head coach, said he remained open to future work in league.
He spent this year as an assistant with premiership-winning Sydney Roosters, after working with the club in 2020 and coaching Lebanon in 2022.
"I'll be back at some stage," the former Wallabies coach promised.
Cheika said leading Lebanon had helped prepare him to resume a head-coaching role.
"It's helped me get my head-coach legs back," he said.
Despite describing Lebanon's tournament performance as "pretty average," Cheika praised the team's courage in securing its only win.
He said he was unlikely to coach Lebanon again and called the campaign a special time with the group.
