Panthers fullback Daine Laurie is facing an uncertain future as he is likely to be pushed out of the Penrith Panthers. He has expressed that he is "open to anything" while seeking a new contract for the 2026 NRL season.
Currently serving as the backup to Dylan Edwards, Laurie has predominantly played in the NSW Cup since returning to the team in 2024. However, he consistently showcases his talent whenever he gets the chance to play at the first-grade level.
This was highlighted during a recent match against the Canterbury-Bankstown Bulldogs, where Laurie made several crucial try-saving tackles and delivered an expertly timed cut-out pass to Paul Alamoti. His performance earned commendation from rugby league Immortal Andrew Johns.
As one of many players whose contracts expire at the end of 2025, Laurie is actively looking for a new deal. While he hopes to extend his stay with the Panthers for another year, he admitted that he is "open to anything" as he aims to clarify his future by the conclusion of this season.
"I'm just gonna take it day by day and then my manager is going to sort all that stuff out," Laurie explained. "But, I'm just going to rip in for the Panthers, and hopefully they can give me one more year. I'm open to anything, whatever's best for myself and my missus. We'll go from there."
