The NSW Blues have been hit hard with a devastating blow as star player Latrell Mitchell has gone down injured, leaving their hopes of winning the Origin decider hanging by a thread.

The South Sydney superstar injured his foot during the Rabbitohs' recent victory over Parramatta, but showed true grit by continuing to play through the pain.

It is believed that Mitchell sustained the injury during the 68th minute of the game, bravely getting back on his feet after a tough tackle from Parramatta's Jake Tago.

Unfortunately, it looks like the 27-year-old will be sidelined for a number of weeks and is unlikely to be fit for Origin Game 3 at the iconic Suncorp Stadium.

The NSW Blues will have to dig deep and find a replacement for Mitchell, with Tom Trbojevic and Bradman Best being considered as possible options to fill the void at centre.

As the team prepares to name their lineup for the crucial decider, they will need to rally together and show true Aussie spirit to overcome this setback on their quest for glory.
