Keaon Koloamatangi is currently a standout name in the transfer market, but he may soon be off that list if circumstances take a favorable turn.
The St George Illawarra Dragons are now the frontrunners in the pursuit of Koloamatangi, with increasing speculation that his future lies away from the South Sydney Rabbitohs.
While there is considerable interest from both the Rabbitohs and the Parramatta Eels, reports suggest that Koloamatangi is likely to sign a long-term contract with the Dragons.
Although there hasn't been any official announcement, the prevailing sentiment indicates that the Dragons are aggressively positioning themselves to revamp their middle rotation in the coming seasons. It is believed that the deal will span four years, allowing the forward to join the Red V.
If this move materializes, it would represent a crucial recruitment achievement for the Dragons, who aim to enhance their forward pack with size, aggression, and reliability as part of their long-term strategy.
The Dragons have historically pursued several forwards for the 2026 season but have only managed to secure Josh Kerr. They are also looking to acquire Gold Coast Titans star Tino Fa'asuamaleaui in 2027.
Meanwhile, South Sydney is eager to keep Koloamatangi, especially after his performance earned him a position in the Kangaroos team in 2025.
