The Newcastle Maitland Region Knights claimed their first SLE Andrew Johns Cup trophy with a hard-fought 14-10 win over the Northern Rivers Titans at GIO Stadium.

Despite tough conditions and a scarcity of points for both teams due to rain, the Knights held a slim 8-6 lead at halftime and managed to withstand a Titans fightback to secure the victory.

Halfback Ty Ennis was named Player of the Match for his impressive performance, including assisting in a crucial try for Chayce Afa and making a sideline conversion to extend the lead to 14-6.

The Knights started the game strongly, but faced strong defense from the Titans and had a potential try denied.

The Titans also had opportunities to score but were unable to capitalize.

Overall, it was a hard-fought win for the Knights in challenging conditions.
