Changes continue for the Newcastle Knights as key staff transitions unfold. Just over a week after the announcement that head coach Adam O'Brien will conclude his time with the team at the season's end, further alterations to the coaching staff have emerged.

As reported by The Daily Telegraph, Matty Jay, the Knights' head of performance, is set to move to the Parramatta Eels following the current season. The club has yet to announce a replacement for him.

Jay has been with the Knights since 2022 and possesses extensive experience with other teams, including the Canberra Raiders, Cronulla Sharks, Wests Tigers, and the New Zealand Kiwis.

During his tenure in the Hunter region, he spearheaded the club's athletic performance initiatives, effectively merging his role as a PDHPE teacher with his dedication to nurturing aspiring athletes.

Reflecting on his experience, Jay commented, "It was an amazing opportunity to work with great players and the best of the best," emphasizing the value of his time under coach Michael Maguire on the international platform with New Zealand.

He continued, "It was really good to see how they go about their business and understand what it takes to be elite." Jay expressed pride in leading a team of exceptional athletes and collaborating with standout staff towards a unified objective.
