The Newcastle Knights have decided against a mid-season player swap involving Kai Pearce-Paul, despite interest from the Wests Tigers to accelerate his arrival before the June 30 deadline.
According to reports from zerotackle.com and Newscorp, the Knights held internal discussions on Monday and concluded that they would retain the English international for the remainder of the current season.
The Tigers aimed to incorporate Pearce-Paul into their squad immediately following discussions about young hooker Tallyn Da Silva.
Although Da Silva is contracted until the end of 2025, the Tigers have allowed him to seek options with other clubs.
This interest in Da Silva led to reciprocal talks regarding Pearce-Paul, as Tigers officials were eager to strengthen Benji Marshall's roster for the latter part of the year.
