Knights forward passes on extension, eyes market try

A young forward for the Newcastle Knights, Paul Bryan, is set to test his value on the open market after declining a two-year contract extension from the club.

Debuting just over a month ago against the Penrith Panthers, Bryan demonstrated remarkable courage by playing through a dislocated right shoulder in his first game.

He continued for an additional 18 minutes, finishing the match with 27 running meters, 23 tackles, and one tackle bust.

His performance earned him high praise from both his coach, Adam O'Brien, and Knights legend Andrew Johns.

"He's earned himself a ton of respect - he did a massive job for us staying out there and going back on in the second half for a short stint, knowing the damage to his shoulder was already done," noted O'Brien after Bryan's impressive debut.

Despite earlier reports suggesting he was on the verge of signing a new deal, the Newcastle Herald has confirmed that Bryan has decided to explore other opportunities rather than accept the extension offered by the Knights.
