An ex-Knight with a heart of gold is gearing up for a triumphant return to the NRL after a whopping 14-year break.

Ryan Stig, a former Newcastle Knights player who last graced the NRL turf in 2011, battled Lyme's disease in 2012 but made a roaring comeback to the rugby league scene last season, strutting his stuff for the Knights NSW Cup squad and even having a whirlwind fling with the Limoux Grizzlies in 2019.

Having tackled his fair share of challenges, including 13 intense matches, the 34-year-old maestro is itching to claw his way back into the Knights' NRL lineup.

With the halves situation up in the air, Stig is revving up for his comeback story, ready to dive headfirst into the heart-pounding action of the NRL once again.

Reflecting on his journey, Stig shared, "A few years back, I was more focused on survival than scoring tries - the thought of returning to the league seemed like a distant dream.

I'd packed away my footy boots and just wanted to be there for my family.

So, stepping onto that field again was nothing short of a miracle."

With determination in his eyes and a fire in his belly, this seasoned player is ready to tackle whatever hurdles come his way as he sets his sights on a triumphant NRL return.

Watch out, NRL - Stig is back and better than ever!
