Knee-jerk reaction: Warriors' Barnett faces tough road

New Zealand Warriors prop Mitchell Barnett has sustained a potentially serious knee injury, likely an ACL injury, during a match against the South Sydney Rabbitohs.

The incident occurred in the first half when Barnett attempted a tackle but fell awkwardly, grabbing his right knee without any direct contact.

Medical staff quickly assessed him for an ACL injury, after which he left the field while visibly in pain, reportedly screaming an expletive as he made his exit.

The Warriors have not disclosed the injury's severity during the game, but sideline commentator Jake Duke confirmed that Barnett's game was over and that further scans would be necessary.

"The Warriors have confirmed it is a knee injury and his afternoon is over," Duke said.
