Klese Haas, a forward for the Gold Coast Titans, is preparing for a significant positional change as he transitions full-time into a prop role ahead of the 2026 season, drawing inspiration from his brother, Payne Haas, a superstar at the Brisbane Broncos.
Initially seen as a promising back-rower, Haas has now fully embraced his new life in the middle, firmly deciding against a return to the edge positions.
At just 23 years old, he has accumulated an impressive track record with the Titans, participating in 60 NRL matches over four seasons-though only 10 of those have been in starting positions as a prop or lock. This ratio is anticipated to change as he solidifies his position.
When questioned about the possibility of moving back to the second row following David Fifita's transfer to the South Sydney Rabbitohs, Haas was clear in his response.
"I'm not a back-rower anymore, I'm a middle," he stated to the Daily Telegraph.
With a top-tier forward like Payne providing guidance, Klese has been able to lean on his brother's experience to accelerate his growth in this new role.
"Obviously, the roles are a lot different, but I've got Payne to talk to about it," Haas elaborated.
