Kiwis face injury crisis ahead of Pacific Championships

LeagueNews.co | Jason Patrick

New Zealand's hopes in the upcoming Pacific Championships have taken a hit with more players ruled out due to injury.

Cronulla Sharks duo Briton Nikora and Ronaldo Mulitalo are the latest casualties, adding to the Kiwis' injury crisis.

To make matters worse, the possibility of Kayal Iro switching allegiances from the Cook Islands to New Zealand has also been shattered, as the Dally M rookie of the year nominee is set to miss the tournament due to injury.

Despite a strong showing in the finals, the Sharks will be without their key players as they undergo off-season procedures in preparation for the upcoming season.

Although none of the trio showed signs of injury during their last game against the Penrith Panthers, Iro struggled with injuries towards the end of the season.

Reports indicate that Nikora, Mulitalo, and Iro will all be sidelined for the Pacific Championships and Bowl tournaments.

This setback leaves New Zealand with a tough battle ahead as they look to overcome their injury woes and compete at the highest level.
