Kikau Launches Heartwarming Christmas Toy Drive in Fiji
Canterbury Bulldogs enforcer Viliame Kikau is stepping into the role of Santa Claus this Christmas by returning to his native Fiji to gift toys to hundreds of underprivileged children throughout the Pacific nation.
Through his Kikau Academy, Kikau has teamed up with Australian toy company Kidstuff to organize a two-day toy drive on December 19-20, where gifts will be distributed to orphanages, women's shelters, and children's charities across Fiji.
This initiative seeks to spread joy to families facing hardships during the festive season, and for Kikau, the cause holds significant personal meaning.
"Growing up in Fiji, I remember Christmas being a difficult time for many families who couldn't afford to buy gifts for their kids," Kikau said.
"Those memories have always stayed with me.
"We came up with this initiative because we wanted to give back to families who are doing it tough back home and make this Christmas a bit more joyous for them.
"If we can put a smile on these kids' faces by giving them toys, then it's all worth it."
