Fijian international Viliame Kikau has put an end to speculation regarding a potential switch to rugby union by re-signing with the Canterbury Bulldogs.

Kikau joined the Bulldogs in 2023 after winning consecutive premierships with the Penrith Panthers. Since then, he has played a key role in the Bulldogs' transformation from the bottom of the ladder to a top-four contender.

He is set to remain with the team for an additional two years, having agreed to a new contract that will see him in the Blue and White colors until at least the conclusion of the 2028 NRL season.

"I'm very happy to be staying at the Bulldogs. This club has embraced my family and I since day one, so it was an easy decision to re-sign," Kikau said in a statement.

He expressed enthusiasm about contributing to the team's ongoing development, stating, "I love being part of what we're building here. We've made great progress over the past couple of years, but we want to achieve more - I want to help this club win its next premiership."

In the last season, Kikau demonstrated his prowess on the field by leading the NRL with six charge-downs and ranking fourth in the league with 61 offloads, showcasing his exceptional skills as a back-rower with notable aggression and explosiveness.

Canterbury Bulldogs GM of Football Phil Gould also expressed delight over Kikau's re-signing, saying, "We're absolutely thrilled to secure Viliame's services for another two years."
