Mitch Kenny's Injury Timeline Released
Penrith Panthers hooker Mitch Kenny faces an extended period away from play, as scans indicate a recovery timeline of 8 to 12 weeks after suffering a leg fracture during Friday night's victory over the Dolphins.
After the injury, Kenny was transported to a hospital in Darwin, where imaging revealed a fractured fibula alongside a syndesmosis injury. He was discharged late Friday and is expected to return to Sydney for surgery next week.
The injury resulted from a hip drop tackle executed by Dolphins five-eighth Kodi Nikorima, who is now facing a suspension of 2 to 3 matches due to this incident.
Kenny plays a critical role in Penrith's lineup, and his absence presents a significant challenge as Freddy Lussick is set to step into the dummy-half position for the upcoming weeks.
In light of his injury, Kenny took to Instagram to reassure fans that he is remaining optimistic during this tough time.
"Feet up for a little while. No malice or intent in it, just an unfortunate part of the game we play. Thanks for all the messages and support, I'll be sweet."
While Penrith will certainly miss one of their dependable players, the team's focus now turns to Kenny's healing process, as they remain hopeful for his return later in the season while aiming for another finals run.
