The battle for the Pacific Cup title is set to take place at CommBank Stadium on Sunday as the Kangaroos face off against Tonga in what promises to be an epic showdown to end the 2024 season.

After a disappointing loss to the Kiwis in last year's final, the Kangaroos are seeking redemption and will need to overcome Tonga, who are riding high on confidence following a thrilling 25-24 victory over New Zealand.

Led by Addin Fonua-Blake and Jason Taumalolo, Tonga's performance was nothing short of spectacular, with young gun Isaiya Katoa showcasing his skills to secure the win.

Tonga has the chance to make history by becoming the first Pacific nation to claim victory in a major tournament, and with their passionate red army in full force at CommBank Stadium, they will undoubtedly have the crowd behind them.

In order to come out on top, Mal Meninga's Australian squad will need to match Tonga's intensity in the forward battles early on and then look to dominate in the final stages of the game.

This showdown between Tonga and Australia will mark only the fourth meeting between the two teams, with Tonga claiming victory in 2019 at Eden Park, while Australia managed to secure wins at Mt Smart Stadium in 2018 and in the opening week of this year's Pacific Championships in Brisbane.

The stage is set for a thrilling clash of titans as both teams look to etch their names in Rugby League history.
