Kangaroos star Cameron Murray has articulated his desire for the Australian rugby league team to unify the nation by honoring Indigenous heroes and raising awareness of the ongoing struggles faced by First Nations peoples.

According to nrl.com.au, the national rugby league team has historically been a leader in promoting progress for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities.

Notably, Arthur Beetson made history in 1973 as the first Indigenous captain of an Australian sports team.

The theme for 2025, 'Bridging Now to Next,' emphasizes utilizing lessons from the past to shape a better future.

Murray believes that the Kangaroos can play a significant role in this effort.
