Tui Kamikamica, a forward for the Melbourne Storm, has been released from the hospital as he begins his rehabilitation following a suspected stroke.
This morning, the Storm announced that Kamikamica was discharged from the Royal Melbourne Hospital to "commence a period of inpatient rehabilitation".
According to a club media release, "It is anticipated he will be able to return to the club following his rehabilitation period and continue his recovery under the care of Melbourne Storm medical staff."
On Monday morning, he experienced a "medical episode," as described by the Storm.
The club shared that he is currently undergoing treatment for what is suspected to be a stroke.
During Saturday's match against North Queensland in Townsville, Kamikamica played for 25 minutes, contributing to the team's 28-24 loss.
The 31-year-old has been a reliable player for coach Craig Bellamy, consistently appearing in the starting lineup over the past few seasons.
He was also part of the Storm's grand final team last year.
Since making his NRL debut in 2017, Kamikamica has played a total of 142 matches for the Storm.
