‘I absolutely hate it’: Ugly tackle riles Joey

Karl Lawton, hooker for the Cowboys, faces a multi-week suspension following a tackle that injured Roosters player Siua Wong, likely sidelining him for a month.

The incident, which left Andrew Johns visibly upset, involved a grade 3 dangerous contact charge after Lawton's tackle, where Wong was held upright by two defenders before being hit directly on the knee.

Johns expressed his disdain for such tackles, stating, "I hate that third man in, I absolutely hate it." Despite the severity of the incident, the Bunker did not advise the referee to award a penalty to the Roosters.

Wong's injury adds to the club's woes, as another player, Nat Butcher, suffered a similar MCL injury earlier this year due to unpenalized foul play, which resulted in a two-game suspension for Penrith's Mitch Kenny.
