In a twist of fate fit for a Hollywood sports movie, the Australian Jillaroos have named their squad for the upcoming showdown against England in Las Vegas, as their beloved coach Brad Donald has decided to step down from his leadership role.
Donald, who has been at the helm since 2016, leaves behind a legacy as solid as a rock in the rough waters of international rugby league.
Enter Jessica Skinner, the Jillaroos' assistant coach, who has been handed the reins as the interim head coach.
With a tumultuous past six months behind them, the team is looking to Skinner to steer them through the storm and emerge stronger than ever.
"The ARLC (Australian Rugby League Commission) acknowledges and thanks Brad for his tireless efforts in bringing the Jillaroos to the top as the reigning world champions and number one ranked team," a statement from the NRL declared.
The decision to part ways with Donald comes after an investigation by the NRL into his conduct, following an incident where he reportedly made a not-so-friendly remark towards a journalist in the presence of players, regarding media coverage of the 2024 Pacific Championships.
As the Jillaroos gear up for their Las Vegas extravaganza, all eyes will be on Skinner and her squad as they aim to blaze a trail of glory on the rugby league battlefield.
The stage is set, the players are eager, and the spirit of competition is in the air - it's game on for the Jillaroos.
