Jess Sergis is hoping to turn her tears of disappointment into tears of joy in Townsville, as she gears up for Game 3 of the Origin series.
The NSW star revealed that the emotional ending to Game 2 left her devastated, but she is determined to bounce back stronger than ever.
Sergis, who battled through corks to both legs and severe cramps in the heart-wrenching loss in Newcastle, admitted that the physical pain was nothing compared to the disappointment of missing the opportunity to clinch the series at home.
The strike centre poured her heart out in a post-match interview, expressing her deep regret at letting down her team and the loyal fans who braved the wettest game she had ever played in.
"The tears were out of disappointment," Sergis confessed.
"We knew that game was a history-making game.
To head out to Newcastle and have so much support in those conditions - I'm talking the wettest game I've ever played in - so to have more than 25,000 people there copping that weather was incredible support.
I was really disappointed for them and for the team because we'd worked so hard to try to finish off the series in Game 2.
To lose by one point, I think that killed me the most."
Despite struggling to move in the first half and eventually being sidelined for a head injury assessment due to a high tackle, Sergis impressed viewers with her determination to get back on the field and fight till the end.
Now, as she prepares to take on the opposition in Townsville, she is hoping to channel that same fighting spirit and emerge victorious in Game 3.
With the support of her team and the fans behind her, Sergis is ready to leave it all on the field and make history in the final showdown.
