This week in history, the Sharks are celebrating the unveiling of their iconic black, white, and blue jersey back in 1967.
With a sky-blue base and a white V with black edging, this historic design marked the club's inaugural season in the NSWRFL competition.
The jersey received a tick of approval from those present at Tonkin Oval, although the exact date of the unveiling remains unknown.
According to the January 1967 edition of Rugby League News, the colors were chosen to represent the district, but there are still rumors and mystery surrounding the sudden change from chocolate and gold jerseys the previous season.
Some speculate that the Sharks were forced to change their colors to avoid a clash with Penrith, who had registered a chocolate-colored kit with the NSWRFL.
However, others claim that Cronulla beat Penrith to the punch in claiming blue and white, which the Panthers had previously worn.
Regardless of the origins of their colors, the Sharks donned their new jersey with pride and began their journey in the top level of Rugby League.
