Lachlan Ilias, once hailed as the potential "greatest halfback in South Sydney Rabbitohs history" by coach Jason Demetriou, has seen a steep decline in performance, landing him in the St George Illawarra Dragons' reserve grade.
This follows his recent removal as the starting halfback, a decision made by head coach Shane Flanagan after Ilias struggled during the first two months of the 2025 NRL season.
Penrith Panthers legend Greg Alexander has critiqued Ilias, pointing to major issues in his game management.
Speaking on SEN 1170 Breakfast, he stated, "What has let Lachlan Ilias down has been game management.
Getting the Dragons the win when they've been in positions to win." Ilias has notably struggled to create scoring opportunities for his teammates, ranking last among the Dragons' playmakers in try assists and line break assists, with only two and one respectively in the opening eight rounds.
