Injury Factors into Makasini's Team Omission

Injury concerns have emerged as a significant factor behind Heamasi Makasini's exclusion from the Wests Tigers' Round 8 match against the Canberra Raiders.

Makasini was omitted from the 22-man squad announced by Benji Marshall, alongside teammate Patrick Herbert.

While Herbert managed to secure his place in the matchday lineup, listed in jersey 18, Makasini found himself entirely left out.

This decision followed a series of mistakes he made during the Tigers' Round 7 defeat to the Brisbane Broncos.

However, it has now come to light that he is dealing with bone bruising, as he showed up at training on Wednesday morning wearing a moon boot.

Coach Benji Marshall confirmed during a media briefing that Makasini wouldn't have been fit to participate this weekend and would also miss the NSW Cup.

While Makasini is considered a standout rookie and is a contender for Rookie of the Year honors, it remains uncertain if he will reclaim his spot upon recovery.

It seems probable that he will spend some time in reserve grade to regain confidence following his inconsistent performance against Brisbane.

The versatile outside back, capable of playing as a winger or center, made his debut late last year and had been a constant presence for Marshall's team before this weekend.
