In a recent interview, Brisbane Broncos recruit Ben Hunt spilled the beans on his departure from the St George Illawarra Dragons, likening it to a weight being lifted off his shoulders.
Hunt, who held the captaincy at the club, had been angling for a release for quite some time, with negotiations going back and forth over the past two seasons.
There was a moment where it seemed like Hunt might stay put with the Dragons, but that idea was swiftly nixed by the club, leading to his eventual release.
Despite being the linchpin of the Dragons' attack, new coach Flanagan, in conversation with Fox Sports, hinted at some "bad habits" that Hunt had picked up, signaling a shift in the team's offensive strategies for the upcoming 2025 season.
Flanagan elaborated, "I'm not knocking Ben here, but I believe the offensive game plan allowed Ben to shine in certain situations." The coach's words suggest a more structured approach to the team's tactics moving forward, with a new halves combination likely to take center stage.
