Melbourne Storm halfback Jahrome Hughes is making an unexpected push for a return in Round 27, following his injury during the second half of the Round 21 match against the Sydney Roosters.
After sustaining the injury, Hughes has dedicated himself to recovery, managing to circumvent immediate surgery. However, such injuries typically necessitate an extended rehabilitation period due to a heightened risk of re-injury.
Despite the potential challenges, the Storm, who are already secured in the top four and guaranteed a double chance in the finals, are optimistic about Hughes' availability for the upcoming round.
Assistant coach Ryan Hinchcliffe shared insights with News Corp, stating that Hughes has been actively training with the team and could face the Broncos next weekend. "At this stage I think he has a chance," Hinchcliffe commented. "He has been training with the team now for two weeks and working really hard on his shoulder rehab."
