The PNG Chiefs' approach to the NRL market has prompted players, coaches and officials to consider whether they could make a life in Papua New Guinea, with tax-free earnings among the attractions.
Former Manly and Bulldogs half Trent Hodkinson and his wife, Chantelle, chose to inspect the facilities before deciding whether to relocate.
Hodkinson had previously spent time in Port Moresby during his playing career and was being considered for an assistant coaching role under Willie Peters.
The Chiefs are preparing to enter the NRL in 2028, offering the couple a chance to take on a new challenge.
Having lived in New South Wales and Queensland, they had also hoped to experience life in England before injuries brought Hodkinson's playing career to an early end.
They wanted to establish whether moving to PNG would suit their family, including their children, aged six and three.
