"I thought my career was over": Sele reveals heart scare

In a recent interview, Dragons prop Hame Sele has bravely shared the harrowing experience he went through during a game last season that left him fearing for his life.

During Round 23 showdown against the Bulldogs, Sele was suddenly yanked from the field, with fears running rampant that he was on the verge of a heart attack.

Fast forward three months, and Sele still vividly remembers the terrifying moment when he felt like his "chest was caving in" and was struggling for air.

Little did Sele know that the flu-like symptoms he was battling before the game were just the tip of the iceberg, as a much more severe condition was lurking beneath the surface.

"It was a real nail-biter; I genuinely thought I was having a heart attack right there on the sideline," Sele candidly shared with The Daily Telegraph.

Now, as Sele continues his road to recovery, he realizes just how fortunate he is to still be in the game he loves.

This brush with mortality has given him a new appreciation for every moment he gets to spend out on the field, fighting tooth and nail like the true warrior that he is.
