Two Teams Interested in Recruiting Departed Penrith Panthers Forward

After being one of 13 players released by the Penrith Panthers following the conclusion of the 2025 NRL season, young back-rower Harrison Hassett is poised to remain in the NRL for the upcoming 2026 season, with two clubs reportedly vying for his talents.

A former Australian Schoolboys representative and the ex-SG Ball Cup Player of the Year, Hassett has been part of the Panthers' pathways system for several years. Despite his time there, he struggled to secure a regular place in the first-grade lineup.

During his tenure at the Panthers, he made only one appearance in first grade. Nevertheless, his potential has attracted the attention of the Brisbane Broncos and the Cronulla Sharks, both looking to enhance their forward depth. This interest comes as he seeks a new contract, according to News Corp.

In the last 18 months, Hassett has also been linked to clubs such as The Dolphins and Wests Tigers. As he aims to find a new home, a switch to either the Broncos or Sharks would allow him to learn from top international forwards like Briton Nikora or Patrick Carrigan, aiding in his development within the rugby league.
