Georgia Hannaway is set to make her State of Origin debut, fulfilling a lifelong dream as Queensland tries to avoid a series whitewash against NSW.

The 24-year-old playmaker, known for her dynamic skills, has been selected to wear the No.

14 jersey as a bench utility for the match at McDonald Jones Stadium in Newcastle on May 29.

Hannaway, a former rugby sevens star, will face off against her Cronulla teammates-Emma Verran, Tiana Penitani Gray, and Ellie Johnston-who have played significant roles in leading NSW to a 2-0 series advantage.

Her selection is a result of a remarkable performance in the 2024 NRLW season, where she was named Cronulla's Rookie of the Year, recording four try assists and a try in seven games, and starting at five-eighth in the grand final against the Roosters.

After being named as the 18th player for the first game and being included in the extended squad for the second, Hannaway's selection marks a well-deserved opportunity for the talented athlete.
