The Dragons have scored a try in the form of Jacob Halangahu signing a contract extension with the club, a move that has fans cheering louder than a packed stadium during a crunch match.

The 18-year-old is set to join the club's Top 30 squad for the 2026 and 2027 seasons, cementing his place as a rising star in the rugby league constellation.

Starting his journey with the Harold Matthews Cup side back in 2022, Halangahu quickly made a name for himself, earning a spot on the Australian Schoolboys team in 2023.

His prowess on the field continued to grow as he moved up to SG Ball, shining brightly in St George's triumphant 2024 Grand Final where he was awarded Player of the Match and named the team's Player of the Year.

Representing NSW City Under 18s and making an impact off the bench in NSW's Under 19s State of Origin victory, Halangahu's talent was undeniable.

His leadership skills were recognized when he was named captain of the Australian Schoolboys team, a role he filled with the same determination and grit as a veteran player fighting for one last shot at a title.

Making his presence known in the Knock-On Effect NSW Cup debut against Canterbury, Halangahu left it all on the field with a try, 27 tackles, and an impressive 152 metres gained along with seven tackle breaks in a full 80-minute performance.

His performance was like watching a masterclass from a seasoned pro, leaving opponents scratching their heads and fans on their feet, applauding the young star's efforts.
