In a massive revelation at Broncos training, potential future captain Payne Haas has announced a significant change in his routine as he works towards peak performance under new coach Michael Maguire.
Haas, who missed the end of last season due to injury, is steering clear of the grog as he aims to shape up for the upcoming campaign amidst calls for a shake-up in leadership.
Haas, who had to sit out the Pacific Championship due to foot surgery, is determined to be in top form for the 2025 season.
With Maguire taking the reins, whispers have been circulating about Haas stepping up as the new captain, especially with veteran Adam Reynolds likely heading for the exit.
Despite his gradual return from injury, Haas is fully committed to Maguire's rigorous pre-season program.
The young gun has sworn off alcohol to aid in his recovery and fitness journey.
"I'm off it," Haas revealed in an interview with The Daily Telegraph.
"That's helped me a lot with my recovery.
I'll put myself on a drinking ban, which I don't want to talk too much about in public."
As Haas hunkers down and focuses on his comeback, the Broncos' new era under Maguire is taking shape, with a renewed sense of determination and discipline permeating the team.
With Haas setting the example, all eyes are on the rest of the squad, including rising star Reece Walsh, as they strive to follow suit and emulate the winning culture Maguire is instilling in the club.
