Haas Manager Signals Loyalty to Broncos Before Deadline

LeagueNews.co | Jason Patrick

Payne Haas' manager has provided a strong indication that the star player will remain with the Brisbane Broncos despite past uncertainties regarding his contract.

Haas had previously sought a release from the Broncos but ultimately decided to re-sign with the team through to the end of the 2026 season. Throughout his current contract, he has consistently demonstrated his loyalty to the club based in Red Hill.

Winning a championship is Haas' primary goal, and he feels optimistic about the Broncos' prospects. Currently ranked fourth, the team is on the verge of securing a top-four playoff position, with an upcoming crucial match against the Melbourne Storm on Thursday.

While Haas's contract expires at the end of 2026, allowing him to enter the open market from November 1, his manager, Ahmad Merhi, hinted that exploring other options is not in the works.

"Brisbane is always going to be home for Payne," Merhi stated to the Newswire. "We are in dialogue with Brisbane all the time and have a good relationship with them. Payne is not going anywhere."
