Clint Gutherson, fresh off his beloved post at the Parramatta Eels, is diving headfirst into his new role with the St George Illawarra Dragons.
The transition hasn't been without its playful jabs, as former teammates have already started teasing him about facing off on the field.
"A couple of the boys have already texted me saying, 'I can't wait to scream down at you on the kick return and get into you,'" Gutherson shared with the Sydney Morning Herald.
With 206 games under his belt as a revered fullback and captain for the Eels, Gutherson is ready to embrace the challenge of a new chapter.
When the Eels opted to hand the coveted No.1 jersey to rookie Isaiah Iongi and didn't make a competitive offer to Gutherson, he knew it was time to move on.
"It doesn't bother me," he said stoically.
As Gutherson gears up for his new role with the Dragons, he's ready to face whatever challenges come his way on the field.
With his experience and leadership skills, it wouldn't be surprising to see him in the captaincy role before long.
