Rugby League legend and former Kangaroos and NSW Blues representative, Mark Geyer, has stepped up to the plate to make his pick for the next Immortal in the game.

With the NRL confirming that a 14th Immortal will be ushered into the esteemed ranks, the tension is high as fans await the announcement.

The current list of Immortals boasts iconic names such as Clive Churchill, Bob Fulton, and Wally Lewis, leaving a legacy that is hard to match.

Among the greats already honored, Geyer has put forward his nominee for the next Immortal status - none other than Ron Coote.

The former Penrith Panthers, Balmain Tigers, and Western Reds player has certainly left a lasting impression on the game with his 180-game career.

As the chatter and speculation grow louder in the lead-up to the official selection, it seems that Geyer is backing Coote to join the elite club of rugby league Immortals.

Time will tell if his choice proves to be a winning one in the end.
